The kids and I are back in Oklahoma again, and Clint will be here soon! I could smell the dirt in the air when we got off the plane last week. Even though it hasn’t snowed yet, it’s nice to know it’s a very real possibility! I heard on the news that Oklahoma is due for more snow this year than many years in the past! I might be the only one really excited about that! Wish I could take some home in my suitcase. Continue Reading »
I can’t believe it, but Maylee is actually 2! This has been a quick, busy year! I feel like it was only a couple months ago that I was making her first birthday cake and all those gingerbread men until 3am! I guess while we were trying to sell the house, get moved, and finally settled in, the kids have been growing double-time! Clint put together a short video of Maylee clips, which I posted below. I will put birthday party pics up on flickr soon! Continue Reading »
During my recent stay in Oklahoma to help Val plan her big day, four more people moved to Vegas to work with Fireproof! Two I had met and two I had not. Anxious to meet our new “neighbors”, we had everyone over last weekend, including Krissee and Brandon. This was a great excuse to use my new cake decorating supplies and know-how (Thanks Ginger!) on some spooky cupcakes. I also made Becca’s famous Chocolate Popcorn, which I actually messed-up! But no one had Continue Reading »
So today, even though I am still in my pj’s, has been no less than exciting. Typical morning with breakfast, phone calls, crying, time-outs, and coffee….and that’s just me. My calm serenity lies in nap time. All mothers feel this way, even if they won’t admit it. It’s the only time of the day you can remember your real name and pee without opening the door and yelling “stop doing whatever you are doing that I don’t want you to do!”
Today Conner and Maylee were having a hard time settling down to sleep; both would rather play with toys in their beds then actually sleep in them. This is not unusual. But from downstairs I hear Conner saying, “Maylee poop! Maylee poop!” Which tells me 2 things.
1. Conner has been up checking on Maylee, so he’s not yet asleep.
2. I would rather clean a truck-stop bathroom than what awaits me.
I rush up to her room anyway, hoping to prevent what I know has already happened. Continue Reading »
So, I am a music person. Not to be confused with a musician. (I do a mean beginner piano solo, but that’s beside the point.) There is music playing in this house all the time, even if it’s just the theme song to whatever Conner & Maylee are watching at the time.
The soundtrack to my life is a varied one. For instance, most Country Music is reserved for cooking, except for Johnny Cash, who is also great for driving and cleaning. And when I say County, I mean nothing recorded after I got into Jr. High, with the exception of Carrie Underwood…..no explanation for that. Just like her.
The Black Eyed Peas are oddly entertaining to Conner & Maylee and are great for the lull between nap time and dinner.
Now the Great Ladies of Country are great “taking a bath” music. (Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, The Judds……I guess something about a good cheatin’ song makes me want to exfoliate. Continue Reading »
This post might be just for my sister, but some of you may have been as fortunate as we were to see this movie as kid. Mr. Boogedy was one of my favorite movies! It only came on the Disney channel in October, and I would vigilantly search the TV Guide for show times. My mom even recorded it for me one year, but it somehow was taped over with some sort of war flick was Dad liked. Sorry Dad, this one’s on you.

So it has come to my attention that more than one of you has contacted Clint concerning my blogging absence. I am both flattered and pressured by this….I will do better. Life is a little less chaotic these days ….by that I mean the children are forced to rest in their beds even if they don’t sleep…..and I am able to get a few stolen moments to myself now and again. Thanks for the nudge you too!
Things are all Fall around here. It is the only way I have been able to resist an October Christmas tree all these years. Once the cool weather hits, something must be decorated! The orange/leafy decor was unpacked alongside the linens and dishes. (Although much to my dismay, Continue Reading »
Here is the other post that was mis-uploaded as it’s own page. This was for Sept 1, 2008. (See previous post for explanation.) Is that a word yet……mis-uploaded?
We finally closed on our house in Vegas on the 29th! It was a long, drawn-out process thanks to the shape mortgage lenders are in right now. Everything takes twice as long as it should! Not to mention twice as much paperwork! Ok, so I mentioned it….but it’s done and we’re done.
We didn’t stick around for the keys since we needed to get to my grandparents’ place in Angel Fire, New Mexico. This was the first annual Greer family reunion…..13 hours in the car (one way), babies crying, raining, laughing, eating, taking pictures, babies crying, laughing, the plumbing backing up, Continue Reading »
Apparently I had been posting in the wrong place, making new pages instead of new blog posts. So here is one on 2. This should have been published August 5, 2008. Duh.
News from the powers that be! They accepted our offer on the house! Not positive on the closing date, but the last possible day will be August 29th! So excited! The house is move-in-ready for the most part, except for a couple small changes we want to make. If you want to see some pictures, which don’t do it justice, they’re on my flickr.
Okay Michelle, when are you coming back to help me UNpack? Soon I hope! ![]()
Thought I would leave you with a few things I have learned so far in the week we’ve been here.
1. I don’t own enough sundresses to get to the next laundry day! Denim is not appropriate desert attire. Anything that touches you will be wet before you get the grocery store!
2. Elvis Lives! And we use the same post office. The dude was even wearing a satin Elvis shirt! Is that like wearing the T-Shirt of the band you are going to see? Continue Reading »
